At last, an Entrepreneur Barbie for the new generation in STEM fields! (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
Since 1959, Barbie dolls has had over 150 careers, ranging from model, nurse, to flight attendant. In the more recent decades, we’ve seen Barbie’s career evolve, including Nascar driver, astronaut, and then a Presidential candidate. Today, as a sign of the times, Mattel reveals its official 2014 “career of the year” doll as Entrepreneur Barbie, complete with a smartphone, tablet, suitcase and power business-dress. Her tagline “You can’t be what you can’t see.” is meant to encourage young girls to become leaders in STEM industries, typically thought to be dominated by men.
If you see #CIOs trending on Twitter today, conversations will not be about Chief Information Officers. The nod to CIOs will stand for Barbie’s “Chief Inspiration Officers”. Mattel is having a “Pink Power Lunch” live conversation with along with her CIOs inspirational women who have broken the glass ceiling in all industries.
As an IT company filled with entrepreneurial minds, Trapp Technology looks forward to the (hopefully near) future of women seeking careers in technology and transforming the current landscape!
