Vin Maddux, Senior Systems Administrator, Trapp Technology
Describe your job at Trapp Technology.
I’m a Level 2 tech support.
How do you describe what you do for a living to your friends?
I tell them in IT. Since I’m not working in a classified job anymore I’m able to tell them a little bit more about it.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I didn’t really have any plans, but I’m pleased with where I ended up. I’ve had a very exciting life. The rest of my life could be really rotten, and it’d still be pretty good.
If you could trade places with any famous person, living or dead, who would it be and why?
John Adams. I’d like to see how he put the Bridge Loan together with the Dutch.
What’s the last book you read in its entirety?
Makers of Ancient Strategy, third edition.
What’s your ideal travel destination?
The woods. I just got back from The Rim up by Payson.
What is your favorite sport to watch? To play?
My favorite sport to watch is Moto GP, and I love adventure riding. Moto GP is like F1 racing but with motorcycles, and adventure riding is what you do when you get too old to ride fast bikes! When I was young, one of my friends had a go-kart, and we welded a motorcycle engine onto it — 100 cc’s. It was so fast, our parents took it away! It was really dangerous, and brutally fast. It could hit 70.
Where can we find you when you’re not working?
Either at home or on my motorcycle.
Do you do any volunteer work?
Nothing specific. I help people out directly — it’s more efficient. I believe in paying it forward.
Where did you grow up? What do you love about it?
I grew up in the Bay Area, and I love it for the culture.
What could you not get through the day without?
Coffee, with a little cream.
What’s your favorite childhood memory?
5th gear before the go-kart got taken away.
What was your first job, and would you do it again if you had to?
I was a dishwasher. I would do it again, yes.
What characteristics do you admire in others?
Kindness, intelligence, and effectiveness.
What is your favorite movie?
Oh, I don’t have one favorite. I like horror movies and psychological thrillers. I loved Silence of the Lambs.
How do you want to be remembered?
As a good dad to my son.
What has been your proudest moment thus far with Trapp Technology?
I really feel like I can help and that I’ll be a good fit. It’s a fluid, fast-paced environment, which I like.
What are you most passionate about professionally?
Automation.
What do you think sets Trapp Technology apart from the competition?
We care about our customers.
