So who’s the driving force behind Trapp Technology? Why none other than David Trapp, our fearless leader (or you know, our CEO). I sat down for a quick interview with him and had a great chat.
David Trapp, CEO, Trapp Technology
Describe your job at Trapp Technology.
I’m the CEO and I’m responsible for the direction of the company — what we’re going to do, and how we’re going to do it. I oversee a lot of the daily administrative functions.
What are you most passionate about professionally? What excites you about your work?
I’d say the quality of our product; the newness of what we’re doing is exciting. I’m excited about what we do, what makes us different, and making customers happy.
What are you known for professionally? What do you have a knack for?
Definitely numbers and finances. I’m really good at bridging two different sides and being a good go-between. I can make things happen — I’m more of a do-er.
Where can we find you when you’re not working?
Definitely with my kids playing sports whether it be baseball, football, or soccer. Our whole house revolves around sports — we have three boys so it’s all sports all the time.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up here in Phoenix, and I love the dryness of the climate. Summer gets rough with the heat, but I’m not used to humidity, so any humidity kind of freaks me out.
How long have you been doing what you do?
I’ve been working on Trapp Technology for 5 years, and accounting and finance for 25 years.
What would be impossible for you to give up?
I’m totally routine-oriented, but I bet I could give that up. I’d just replace it with something else! But really, I’d be sad to give up Mexican food.
What’s your favorite childhood memory?
Spending time up at my grandparents’ cabin.
What’s your favorite movie?
Oh, I don’t know if I have a favorite! Hm. What have I watched a million times? Oh, the Matrix. I didn’t like the sequels, though!
What was your very first job and would you do it again if you had to?
My very first job was working as a reservations agent for Best Western and I was only 15 years old. “Thank you for calling Best Western, how may I help you?” I still have it engrained in my head after all these years. It was a call center with 100 people at their Phoenix headquarters. I had the worst shift — I had to be there at 4 in the morning. I had to wear slacks and a collared, long sleeved shirt. I would do it again, yeah. It gave me a good idea of what working was like.
What three words would you use to describe yourself?
Meticulous. Planner. Oh, I don’t know how to word this, but I like to make sure everyone is having fun. I’m totally the cruise director of any party.
Have you ever been told you look like someone famous?
Yes! I’ve been told I look like the quarterback John Elway!
You were just given a yacht. What do you name it?
The first thing that comes to mind is our dog, Stella, which would make my children happy. She’s a 2-year-old cockapoo. Although, my eldest child prefers that everything is named after him so he would vote for Max.
How do you want to be remembered?
I hope I’m remembered as a fair and giving individual.
