Adam Merkley, Onboarding Specialist, Trapp Technology

Describe your job at Trapp Technology.
In addition to answering the regular tech support calls that come in, I personally walk any Sage Master Builder, BuilderMT, or Sage Timberline customer through the initial transition to the cloud.

What are you known for professionally?
Fixing stuff!

What excites you about your work?
Helping a company grow and helping it reach its full potential.

How long have you been doing what you do?
Every job I’ve had since high school has had something to do with customer service, whether it be working in my mom’s restaurant or in sales.

Where can we find you when you’re not working?
I go on bike rides — the pedaling kind — and I go to a lot of movies. I’ve done two third century rides, which are 66 miles. I’ve never done a full century, though. Two years in a row I did the bike tour portion of the Salt Lake Marathon. It was great — I got to take a 26 mile bike ride with a police escort! We headed out before all the runners and it was just really great.

Where did you grow up?
I was born in England and lived there until I was seven; my mother is British. When I was seven we moved to Utah, which is where my dad is from, and I lived there until September of 2012. My parents actually retired here about a decade ago!

Do you have any pets?
Yes! I have two pugs, and their names are Max and Milo. They got to avoid the Utah winter and came down to Arizona with me.

What would be impossible for you to give up?
My iPhone. I am always reading the news and staying connected, so that would be hard to give up.

What was your first job?
I was a busboy in my mom’s restaurant, an Italian deli. I hated every minute of it. My mom owned the restaurant, so I was obligated to work there, but it was actually kind of cool looking back on it now.

Have you ever been told you look like someone famous?
When I had a beard, people told me I looked like Zach Galifianakis.

If you were in the Miss America talent competition, what would your talent be?
Oh, staring! I can go a long time without blinking, so I’d win any staring contest.
