3 Cloud Implementation Tips

If you’re looking to move to the cloud, you know how important it is to have a road map to guide you through the decision making process. Here are 3 tips to help you find the best cloud host for your business.

1. Determine the cloud structure that’s best for you.

There is no one single cloud service or model of computing — each individual cloud provider does things differently. The best way to determine if a provider’s model of computing is in line with your needs is to set up a phone call and hash out the specifics of their solution with a member of their team. Don’t be afraid to ask hard questions — they need to be able to provide you not only with answers, but solutions that fit your specific needs.

2. Estimate the costs.

This is always on everyone’s “moving to the cloud” checklist, but people still overlook the minor details that end up costing them more in the long run. What is the provider’s set up fee? Is there a free trial?

Do they require you to sign an annual contract, or do they offer a discount for prepaying for service? Obviously, you need to determine if your business requires a set up that lends itself to little to no CapEx costs in exchange for a monthly cloud computing charge.

3. Work out the nuts and bolts ahead of time.

Sometimes, the move to the cloud is as simple as putting one piece of software in a virtual environment and calling it a day. Other times, there are more complex solutions that need a little bit more attention. Ask if your cloud provider can integrate all of your software in one central location. If they can, ask for a demo to verify that it’s a user-friendly and seamless experience.
